TEACHING

‘I worked with Claire Doran at the University of Aberdeen and consider her one of the most conscientious and capable colleagues I have had. She was a great teacher, prepared extensively for lectures and communicated very clearly with students. Her level of knowledge regarding Sociology, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding was exemplary and her personal commitment to peace and justice has proven to be really inspiring. It was very unfortunate that she was only with us for one year as she made a substantial contribution to the Department in the short time that she was here.’

COLLABORATIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

‘Working with Claire on the Peer Mediators Online Course was a wonderfully rewarding experience. Her careful attention to detail, skillful sequencing and management of evolving objectives, and commitment to developing superbly professional resources drove the success of our collaboration and inspired our team to achieve much more than would have been possible without her.’

PUBLIC SPEAKING

‘Claire was a guest speaker at our recent 5240 District Rotary Conference. She shared with us her insights on becoming a Peace Fellow and her passion for mediation and facilitation in the on-going struggle to bring about peaceful solutions to the on-going conflicts we see all around us–both in the greater world and our own communities. She is a poised and inspirational speaker, commanding attention with her presence and her message. She left all of us wanting to hear more from her as she challenged Rotarians to look within themselves for answers–to dig a bit deeper, to be more aware of the consequences of their own actions.’

COMMUNITY MEDIATION

‘Claire volunteered at SEEDS for almost a year as a case developer and mediator. She could handle very angry people calmly and deftly over the phone and in person. Many times I heard her listening intently to people in conflict speak about their situation and she rephrased back to them what they told her in a way that allowed them to feel heard; many times de-escalating a conflict simply by her presence and focus. Not only are her conflict resolution skills and asset, she is also a fun person to be around with an incredibly positive attitude.’
